“A neon sign at Chicago Booth reads ‘Why are you here and not somewhere else?’

I thought about this question throughout my Booth journey—most noticeably when sitting in class after a long day at work or staying inside to study instead of enjoying the fleeting perfection of a Chicago summer. At the end of each day, however, there were innumerably more reasons why I was here.

I came to Booth to be challenged, to meet lifelong friends, to do something that truly and deeply scared me. I came for the rigor, for the inquiry, and to learn from the best and the brightest.

I am so proud to be here, 2.5 years later, as a graduate. I am better because I was here, and not somewhere else.

Grateful for the many people whose support, love, and encouragement made it possible for me to succeed. Here’s to ‘here,’ here’s to Booth, and here’s to the 2020 graduates—we did it.”

Congratulations! I too wondered about it when I lived and worked in LA and flew to Chicago every friday night on a red eye for 24 hour trip, for two years... It was so worth it! That rigor in studies, that social network, those intellectual discussions that expand your mind... All of it... Enjoy!
